Street Racing May Have Caused Deadly Bensalem Crash

Posted: Updated:

One person is dead and two others are in the hospital following a late night crash in Bensalem, Bucks County.

The accident happened on Labor Day just before 11pm on Lincoln Highway.  A Volvo sedan crossed over the northbound lanes, rolling over several times, before hitting a large sign and bursting into flames.

The driver and front passenger were ejected from the vehicle.  They were transported to Aria Torresdale hospital. The rear passenger, a female, died.

Their identities are not being released at this time.

Several witnesses stated that the Volvo was racing another vehicle at a high date of speed prior to the crash.

An off duty police officer told authorities that he also witnesses the vehicles racing.  The other vehicle was described as a white Crown Victoria.

According to authorities and the preliminary investigation, alcohol does not seem to be a contributing factor to the accident.
