Poll: Majority Give Christie Thumbs Up As Governor

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A new poll shows a majority of voters still approve of the job Gov. Chris Christie is doing in New Jersey.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows Christie didn't get a bounce from delivering the keynote speech at the Republican National Convention. But the first-term governor hardly needed it.

The poll finds 53% of voters approve of Christie's job performance, compared with 42% who disapprove. That's nearly identical to his score in a July poll.

Nearly two-thirds of men approve of Christie, while women are statistically split over whether the governor is doing a good job. Two-thirds of black voters disapprove.

The telephone survey of 1,560 registered voters took place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5%.
