The National Weather Service has confirmed that a weak tornado hit Mt. Ephraim, N.J., Tuesday evening.

The weather service said it was an EF-0 tornado with an estimated maximum wind speed of 70 mph that touched down at about 6:31 p.m.

The brief touchdown occurred along the west side of Cleveland Avenue and then moved in an east-northeast direction, crossing Jefferson Avenue before lifting as it approached Kings Highway.

Several homes in the area experienced roof damage, mainly from fallen tree limbs. One large tree was uprooted, and a few small trees were bent from the wind.

The maximum width of its path was 75 feet and it lasted for 120 yards, but it thankfully resulted in no fatalities or injuries, according to the weather service.
