Initiative Announced To Arrest Drug Dealers In Delaware County

Posted: Updated:

"I see the paraphernalia on the ground, the exchange of money slipping in the hand," said Shauna Stephens who is disgusted with the drug activity she sees walking through parts of Delaware County. She's especially concerned for her children Kalen-Marie and little Elijah.

"They're already impressionable, easily influenced and us being in a Christian family, we try to bring them up in a certain way," said Stephens.

Wednesday Delaware County's District Attorney announced a plan to put parents minds at ease. Police from all over the county are working on undercover stings and serving warrants to get drug dealers off the streets.

D.A. Jack Whelan said, "It starts sometimes with young people using opioids commonly referred to as Oxycontin, Percocet, and Vicodin. They become addicted and then switch because of expense, they switch to heroine." Police made 31 arrests starting in the Borough of Collingdale.

"That's a lot for just Collingdale. I heard it was just in my town," said Andrew Felock. Neighbors are glad the crackdown will extend to other areas like Sharon Hill, Darby, and Clifton Heights to name a few.

Willie Lockhart said, "You have it in all neighborhoods. It can be the best looking neighborhood in the world. Like they say, you never know who your neighbor is."
