PHILADELPHIA -
Christopher Shell told the Associated Press he was the guy hauled off of a plane in Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday morning.
Authorities swooped in after someone tipped them off that the 29-year-old had explosives. Later, they said it was all a hoax.
Now, another man is facing federal charges in that incident, more people could be in a lot of trouble, and Shell has been busted on an outstanding warrant in Dallas.
A man in his 20s who is being called a person of interest is in federal custody tonight and is expected to be charged with interfering with a flight after Thursday's big scare at Philadelphia International Airport.
Meanwhile, the man who was targeted in the hoax has also been arrested in Dallas on unrelated charges.
The anonymous call came into Philadelphia Airport police that a passenger traveling on a US Airways flight to Dallas was carrying liquid explosives.
The plane with 76 passengers and crew on board was immediately diverted back to Philadelphia. Police SWAT teams stormed the plane, took that male passenger off in handcuffs and placed him into custody while a search of the plane began.
It turned out the whole story was a lie. That passenger, Shell, is from South Philadelphia. Police say he did nothing wrong and nothing illegal was found. But he was the victim of a horrible hoax.
Onboard Shell even posted pictures of himself while on the plane as he celebrated his 29th birthday.
Within hours, the FBI tracked down who they think made that hoax phone call. A source tells FOX 29 it was a man in his 20s who is now the current boyfriend of the Shell's ex-girlfriend, and he was possibly seeking revenge.
The boyfriend now faces federal charges, not to mention potential fines to recoup the tens of thousands of tax dollars spent responding to Thursday's airplane threat.
Hours later, passengers boarded another plane bound for Dallas.
As the story unfolded, Shell posted another Facebook status on his new-found notoriety, saying: "If you have questions or want an interview with me it will cost you money? Until then sorry. Message me your offers as I'll go with the most money."
And police, once again, confirm that when Shell got to Dallas, he was immediately arrested coming off that plane on unrelated outstanding warrants.
As for the person of interest being held here in federal detention, he's got a date with a federal judge Friday morning.
