Employee Chases Robbery Suspect With Metal Chair After Being Threatened

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Facing a gun and two would-be robbery suspects, the employee of a Philadelphia store quickly turned the tables by picking up a metal chair and chasing the suspects out of his store.

Philadelphia Police say they are now looking for two men who entered the Haverford Freedom Service Station on the 7400 block of Haverford Avenue on Tuesday holding a gun and demanding money.

Police say one of the suspects struck a store employee with the gun and then demanded the store's money a second time.

At that point, police say the suspect threatened to kill the store employee and began to count down. That's when police say the threatened employee picked up a metal chair and charged at the suspect, chasing the two out of the store.

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video, which was released by police Friday.

Police describe the first suspect as a black male, between the ages of 20-23 with a thin build. He was seen wearing a black jacket with a hood and armed with a silver revolver.

The second suspect is described as a black male in the same age range. He was seen wearing a light colored jacket with a hood.

If you have any information, you're asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS (8477). You can text a tip to police at 773847.
