City Council Aides Charged With DUI

Posted: Updated:

Two Philadelphia council aides are in some serious trouble with the city.

Investigators say Robin Jones, an aide for city council, lost control of her city-owned vehicle around 3am Saturday at 13th and Hamilton Streets in the city's Spring Garden section. Jones says she was trying to avoid a bicyclist when the car crashed.

Jones called police out to the accident scene.  She also called fellow council aide Rodney Williams to pick her up.  Police say Williams drove to 13th and Hamilton Streets in his city-owned vehicle, but neither was going to drive home.

Police arrested both Jones and Williams at the scene for DUI.

In a statement released by Council President Darrell Clarke, he says neither Jones nor Williams was authorized to drive a city vehicle. Clarke goes on to say "These acts, if confirmed by the authorities, display a level of conduct and disregard for public safety that cannot be tolerated."
