Quarry Jumpers Causing Concern

Backflipping Quarry jumpers!

"It makes me sick to my stomach," exclaims Joanne Senn.

She and her friend Marian Dantonio have seen the daredevils launch off the roughly 50 foot cliff and plunge into St. Peter's Village Quarry in Chester County.

"I  would die if my grand kids wanted to jump," said Marian Dantonio.

Taking the plunge is littered with dangers.

There are  unconfirmed reports of  injuries.

Boulders are visible around the edges of the quarry.

And jumpers could hurt themselves on old mining equipment still in the water.

But  that still didn't stop a couple of guys from looking over the fence and  being tempted to take the plunge.

"A manager for the property owners says they're concerned about people jumping and injuring themselves. They've put up fencing and posted signs saying don't trespass. Problem is people are ignoring the signs and jumping over anyway."

"It's a little concerning I know there's cranes at the bottom its pretty deep. My son actually did jump," said Sandra Marchiano who lives in the area.

You read right. Despite the fact that Pennsylvania State Police patrol the property handing out $100-plus  citations...

Marchiano allowed her young son  to take the plunge a few weeks ago.

"At  first it felt scary, " Blake said about his jump. "Then I saw other kids jumping and then when I jumped it felt like a high dive."

Since the fencing and patrols haven't kept people from trespassing.... authorities say there's talk of possibly filling-in the quarry to prevent injuries or something worse in the future.
