PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia City Council President Darrell Clark says the two city employees charged with driving under the influence over the weekend were fired on Monday.

Clarke responded to the arrests Monday afternoon.

Philadelphia Police arrested 50-year-old Robin Jones and 41-year-old Rodney Williams early Saturday morning.

Police say Jones, who served as a receptionist to Clarke, was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt owned by the City of Philadelphia when she allegedly ran over a stop sign in the city's Spring Garden section. Williams, who was driving in a separate city-owned vehicle, arrived at the scene of the accent. Police say he was visibly intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Clarke says Jones' license was suspended, and she was never even allowed to drive a city car to begin with.

Rodney, who was a city council sergeant of arms, was allowed to drive city vehicles but never signed one out that night, according to Clarke.

The city council president says the keys to the three cars meant for city council were easily accessible, but he expects that will soon change.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
