Eagles Release 2nd-Round Pick Jarrett, Sign WR Gilyard

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday released Jaquain Jarrett, a second-round draft pick last year and a former Temple Owl.

Although it was not a surprise to many, the former Temple player just did not make plays. He was on 25 special team snaps on Sunday and made zero plays. Jarrett obviously was a poor pick, but to the Eagles' credit, they didn't keep him just because he was a second-round pick.

The team added wide receiver Marty Gilyard because Jeremy Maclin may not practice this week with a muscle strain in his hip.

Tuesday was moving day for the Eagles – as in it's time to move forward from Sunday's game against Cleveland.

The Eagles' first home game this Sunday is just a little tougher team than the last.

The Eagles play the Baltimore Ravens and, although many in Philadelphia question how the Eagles can win, the Eagles are 2½-point favorites.
