Most drivers search for the cheapest gas before filling up at the pumps, but on Wednesday, some drivers saw gas stations that were aiming to offer the most expensive.

Some of the Lukoil franchises in New Jersey and Pennsylvania offered gas between $8 and $10 in protest of the company. Owners tell Fox 29 they're trying to send a message that they feel the pricing from the Lukoil is unfair.

Owners say Lukoil makes it nearly impossible to make a profit and be competitive with other gas stations. One owner said he only makes about 3 cents on a gallon of gas while the company can make between 30 to 45 cents.

The Associated Press reports more than 50 Lukoil stations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania increased their prices in protest.

Gas prices are expected to return to back to normal at participating stations Thursday.
