Phillies Fans Still Have Phaith

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

If you jumped off the Phillies bandwagon this season, you may want to think about jumping back onboard.

After a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins and seven-straight wins, the Phillies are suddenly in the playoff picture.

The Phillies head to Houston for a four-game series against the Astros and find themselves just three games back in for the second NL Wildcard spot. By contrast, on Sept. 1 the Phillies were eight games behind in the Wildcard race.

For the most part this season has been a big disappointment, especially for longtime fans like Carmen Deleo, a season ticket holder.

"I didn't get anything in the mail for playoff tickets, so that tells you something," said Deleo.

Many fans wouldn't admit they lost hope with the team recently.

"If you don't think this town isn't going to make the playoffs maybe it's time for you to move because this team is going to be in the playoffs" said Don Christian of Newark, DE.

He was at Wednesday's game holding a sign saying "Pull the Phork Out. It's not over yet."

Making the playoffs would be a historic feat this late in the season. But it's still going to be a challenge.

With three weeks left in the season, the Phillies still have to leapfrog over Pittsburgh Pirates, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
