Caught On Video: Pharmacist Shoots At Would-Be Robber

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

Investigators in Camden County released surveillance video Thursday of a pharmacist grabbing a gun and firing shots at a would-be robber, scaring him off.

According to Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Winslow Police Chief Robert Stimelski, a man entered the Jolin's Pharmacy on the 400 block of Sicklerville Road Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the man demanded drugs, including Oxycontin.

When the pharmacist working behind the counter noticed what he though was the butt of a gun in the man's fanny pack, he ran to an office, grabbed a handgun and fired several shots at the suspect, according to police.

The suspect then ran out of the store and took off on a mountain bike.

Police say it doesn't appear the suspect was struck by the gunfire.

Police describe the suspect as a black man, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. The man has a stocky build and was seen wearing black sneakers, a blue dress and a wig. Police say the man had a light beard.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at 856-580-5997 or the Winslow Police Department at 609-561-3300.
