First Responders Hold Vigil For Fallen Officer

Posted: Updated:

Tears flowed and sadness burned at a candlelight vigil to honor Plymouth Township Policeman Brad Fox.

He was a husband, a father and former marine

"It's heartbreaking to know this officer lost his life,  knowing he did two tours of duty and then he lost his life on home front," Theresa Medevtz said near tears.

Emotions overflowed and people embraced one another for support as they mourned Fox's death beneath the National Memorial Arch at Valley Forge.

Police and first responders from across the Delaware Valley bowed their heads in prayer and sang songs to honor the

fallen officer.

The seven year police veteran  was shot and killed chasing  hit and run driver Andrew Thomas on Thursday.

One day before his 35th birthday.

Upper Merion Policeman Bob Smull spoke during the vigil.

"His friends say he was a great family man looking forward to expanding his family. Everyone loved him around Plymouth Police station.
He was always uplifting to all the guys."

People put post it notes on balloons with prayers of blessings and strength for his young child and expecting widow.

At the end of the ceremony they were released toward the sky, hoping those prayers will be heard.

"Thank you! Tank you for your service to our country, "Medevtz exclaimed. Thank you for your service in protecting the community and us."
