Philadelphia Police tell Fox 29 News they plan to increase security checks on Jewish and Islamic institutions Monday, following unrest in the Middle East over an anti-Muslim film seen on YouTube.
Monday marks Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, with synagogues around the city and area set holding services.
The Jewish new year began Sunday evening at sundown.
Police in New York were also planning to step up their presence in front of synagogues, Jewish museums and other landmarks.
NYPD says there hasn't been any specific threats against New York, rather the added police presence is just a precaution.
