Police spent the morning investigating an officer-involved shooting near a Burlington County car dealership.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of Route 130 south on the border of Burlington City.
A police officer was on patrol when he stopped to check out a suspicious person walking near the dealership.
According to a preliminary investigation, the suspect fled on foot and fired at the officer. The officer was not hit. The officer returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect.
The officer was evaluated at a local hospital and later released. He is on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
