Drink To That! Craft Beer Drinkers Play Serious Role In Election

PHILADELPHIA -

Courting craft beer drinkers may be a ticket to the White House this November.

It may sound silly, but Philadelphia beer reporter "Joe Sixpack" says it's an unnoticed voting trend.

Philadelphia Daily News writer Don Russell says craft beer drinkers will play a serious role in the upcoming election.

According to Nielson Company, most craft beer drinkers are white and male. This is a demographic that poses the biggest challenge for President Obama.

And it appears the president's reelection campaign has taken notice.

"I think that his embrace of craft beer is sort of, in many ways, is somewhat calculated to make him seem to be a man of the people," Russell said." It certainly is a distinction between him and Gov. Romney, who we all know doesn't drink beer. So, I think that there is, you know, in some ways it may be calculated. But I also think that today most people do drink beer, so he's appealing to, I guess, the majority of Americans."

How's this for election trivia? In 2008, the 25 states with the most breweries voted for Obama.
