Haddonfield Family's $100,000 Dream for Charity

Posted: Updated:

"It's the most heart wrenching, god awful thing to live through," said Haddonfield Mom Lisa Hurly.

She lost her son Steven Michael at 7 weeks old. he was born premature and with half a heart. Not a day goes by where she doesn't think about her baby boy and all the families out there who have suffered a similar loss.

"It's been 9 years, you still go back to that place and say why did that have to happen and why does it happen to other people, " said Lisa.

Lisa has taken her grief and put it to good use. raising money and awareness to help support research for pediatric heart disease and premature births. Every year her family hosts Kidsfest, a local charity event, and she launched help-women-and-children-dot-com.

"There are other people out there, Someone who has been grief stricken and feels they're alone, and need to know they are not alone."

She has a new online campaign called 10 from 10,000, a goal to reach 100,000 dollars
and she's produced an emotional video she hopes will spark awareness.

"If we could help save one family from going through what we still live with than that would just make it in a weird way better."

All of Lisa's efforts, including 10 from 10,000 come together here in Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill on Sunday where once again she will host Kidsfest.
