Jersey Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges, Is There A Main Line Connection?

Posted: Updated:
RADNOR TWP. -

Gerrett Conover has a nice house and some expensive cars at his South Jersey home, but it's his arrest on child pornography charges and his alleged past activities on the Main Line that now have federal investigators focusing on the Wayne area.

"We're just concerned that there may be victims out there, obviously they would be older now," said Radnor Police Lt. Andrew Block.

The 47-year-old Conover was arrested 12-days ago as he entered the country from Canada, allegedly in possession of more than 50 images of child pornography. The feds say a search of his Swedesboro home turned up a laptop computer containing more child pornography and links to online chat rooms.

Investigators say Conover allegedly made statements in an online chat room that he was involved as a Boy Scout leader in the Wayne area between 1990 and 2000.

That lead Radnor police to post his picture on the police website and begin gathering information about Conover's possible activities on the Main Line during those years.

"We took that information and placed it on our website for anybody in our area that may have had previous knowledge of him, or contact,  to notify us and we would pass that along to the Department of Homeland Security," Block added.

Block says investigators have not yet nailed down which Boy Scout troop Conover may have been involved with. Investigators say they have uncovered further evidence at Conover's home, establishing his ties to the boy scouts.

"To what capacity, if it was even true, we don't know at this point. It's an ongoing investigation," Block said.

Federal investigators found a Boy Scout manual and a shoe box loaded with pictures of Conover in a Boy Scout uniform with other scouts. Radnor Twp. Police have established that Conover did not live in the township.

Conover is being held without bail, pending a hearing on Thursday in federal court in Camden. If convicted on the charges, Conover faces five to 20 years in prison.

Police say he lives alone.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
