'Evaluate As We Go' Remark Sparks Eagles QB Debate

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Whether he wanted to or not, a six-second answer by head coach Andy Reid has started talk of a quarterback controversy with the Eagles.

"Right now, we're with Michael, and that's what we're doing, and we'll evaluate as we go," Reid said at his weekly Monday news conference.

Reid seemed to leave open the possibility of switching to Nick Foles if Michael Vick's performance does not improve.

Vick had two more turnovers in a bad Eagles loss Sunday in Arizona.

On Reid's WIP radio show a few hours after he made that statement, the head coach did try to shutdown talk of a quarterback controversy, saying, "Michael is our quarterback. Period. Michael is our quarterback."

But in Sunday's game, former Eagle Kevin Kolb was the better quarterback, running his offense the way Reid wants his offense run.

In particular, Kolb gets the ball out quickly.

The question now is for how long will Vick be Reid's quarterback.

Right now, Vick is just trying to get it done the right way.

"You know, I wish I could tell you," Vick said. "I wish I had all the answers right now. The only thing I know is that, you know, we didn't play our best."
