City Owns Land On ‘Philadelphia’s Forgotten Block’

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

In a city of forgotten streets, North May Street in West Philadelphia may just be one of the worst.

Neighbors call it "Philadelphia's forgotten block."

It's easy to find abandoned cars, trash, junk and weeds. But what about an old horse trailer, truckloads of debris and tire piles?

There's even a burned out car that has been sitting right in the middle of May Street for 16 days and counting.

Through city records, FOX 29 found one property owner who owns three of the abandoned lots.

But according to those records, two other lots filled with trash and old tires are owned by the City of Philadelphia.

We tried to contact the city about them, but no response so far.
