Man Convicted Of Embezzling More Than $500K From Ailing Parents

Posted: Updated:

An East Bradford Township man has been convicted of embezzling more than $500,000 from his ailing parents and other family members.

Boyd Davis, Jr. used multiple schemes to get his hands on Nelda and Boyd Davis, Sr.'s fortune, prosecutors charged. The Davis family operated a heating oil business in Chester County.

Davis, Sr. suffered a disabling stroke in 1999. Matriarch Nelda's health was in decline for years.  She passed away in 2010 at 96 years of age.

Davis, Jr.  used his parent's health issues to gain power of attorney over their funds. According to the Chester County DA's office, Boyd, Jr.  then began to use "financial tricks to misappropriate money from his family."

Boyd Jr. was convicted by a jury of 80-plus counts of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and other types of fraud. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
