Community Forums On Philly School Closures Under Way

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A series of community forums to discuss school closures with School District of Philadelphia officials is now under way.

The first forum took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Two more are scheduled for this week: Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. at Center in the Park on Germantown Avenue, and a third on Saturday at 10 a.m. at West Philadelphia High School.

The district says the forums are meant to bring together stakeholders to discuss the priorities that should guide the school closure decisions.

The district says information from the forums will be presented to the School Reform Commission, along with recommendations for closure, relocation and consolidation for the second phase of the Facilities Master Plan.

The forums are scheduled to run through Saturday, Oct. 13.
