One woman is in critical condition after a driver struck her and another woman while they were walking in Newark Tuesday morning.
Delaware State Police say the two were walking around 7:30 a.m. on the side of a roadway on Corporate Boulevard towards Lake Drive.
The two were struck from behind by a vehicle headed eastbound on Corporate Boulevard.
State police say the vehicle didn't stop and continued eastbound.
Police say Maria Eldreth, 52, was taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with multiple traumatic injuries. The other women, 67-year-old Judith Johnson, was taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Delaware State Police closed Corporate Boulevard for more than two hours to investigate the incident. The road has since been reopened.
Investigators say the suspected vehicle could be a Geo Tracker type SUV that is black in color, possibly with Maryland license plates. The vehicle would have damage to its right front end.
