Specialized Vest Stolen From 5-Year-Old Boy With Rare Condition

Posted: Updated:
SCHWENKSVILLE, Pa. -

A 5-year-old boy with a rare disease is struggling to get by after the specialized vest that keeps him alive was stolen.

Wyatt was born without sweat glands, which means his body can't cool itself when the temperature rises outside.

But when he has his vest, he's able to be outdoors and feel comfortable.

Wyatt now must wear a vest that is too small on him, since his was stolen.

A search online shows these types of vests can cost $700 and even more with the needed inserts.

Money for his family is tight, but there's a way you can help.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the Waltz Golf Farm at 303 West Ridge Pike in Limerick is holding a fundraiser from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All proceeds from miniature golf will go to help his family.

Wyatt will even be on-hand to say thank you.

You can watch FOX 29 reporter Bruce Gordon's story in the video above.

Insurance policies have rules governing what's covered and what's not. Generally, they make sense. The rules are designed to prevent unreasonable costs from being passed along to the insurer, and by extension to other insurance customers. But listen to Sheree Kober's story.
