PHILADELPHIA -

A 5-year-old girl was caught in the crossfire that killed her mother in broad daylight Tuesday in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police say 31-year-old Alicia Canty had just arrived outside a house on the 7300 block of Theodore Street to pick up her boyfriend, the father of her twin daughters.

Her five-year-old was in the car when shots rang out.

Police say Canty put her car into reverse but crashed into a wall and was shot in the chest.

The 5-year-old suffered a graze wound.

Saeedah Harrison is in shock over the death her daughter, the mother of her grandchildren.

"She was a good mother," Harrison said.

Investigators say the boyfriend, who recently got out of jail, was the intended target.

Bags of heroin were also found by the car.

Police used at least 30 evidence markers at the scene. The search is now on for the killer.

Harrison said, "I pray they have a conscience and it bothers them so much they will come forth."
