Sept. 30, 2012 -

Police say a 10-year-old boy went on a joyride when he got behind the wheel of a stolen van and crashed into several parked vehicles in West Philadelphia.

It happened just before 1 p.m.  today on South 62nd street.

Police say the driver was unloading furniture from an apartment when the boy removed the keys from the rear door of the vehicle and stole it.

Police say the boy drove the van to the unit block of 62nd Street, striking 5 parked vehicles. Neighbors detained the boy at the location until police got there.

No one was hurt. Police say the boy will be charged with theft of auto and related offenses.
