GEORGETOWN, Del. -

A would-be robber may have thought a store clerk screaming was the worst of his problems until police say he was met outside by the store owner armed with a metal pipe.

Delaware State Police say when a man with a handgun walked into a Georgetown auto sales shop Monday afternoon demanding money, he was greeted by a screaming store clerk.

Police say the suspect then left the store, only to be greeted by the store owner, a 50-year-old man who had a metal pipe with him.

The owner managed to force the would-be thief to the ground until state police troopers could arrive.

Police say Aaron Jefferson was taken into custody. During a search, police say they found drug paraphernalia.

No one was injured in the incident.
