Man Paralyzed By Prank 6 Years Ago Needs New Van

Posted: Updated:

A Delaware bus driver, paralyzed after he was the victim of a prank six years ago, has made remarkable progress, but now he needs help after the van he uses to get around no longer runs.

Pedro Toala became paralyzed in 2006 when kids tipped over the porta potty he was using.

A local mechanic inspected Toala's van Tuesday and tells FOX 29 reporter Claudia Gomez that sloppy work has made the van unsafe to drive.

Doctors never expected Toala to walk again, but after a lot of hard work and determination he is.

Toala says he never wanted to become a burden on anyone, which is why his van was so important.

He says he used the van to get around, run errands and be mobile.

But now, the van is useless.

FOX 29 has been in touch with the company who originally converted the van. The president of the company says he is determined to make things right for Toala.
