A 41-year-old Bethlehem resident pleaded guilty Thursday to distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography in a case where federal agents found hundreds of images and dozens of videos depicting child pornography.
The U.S. District Attorney says Niyaz Sainudeen pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
According to investigators, Sainudeen took part in an online chat session with an undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in July 2011. During that chat, Sainudeen gave the agent access to a password protected folder that had child pornography on it.
Investigators say he was questioned in March during a search of his home, where they discovered the images and videos on his computer.
During that search, investigators say Sainudeen attempted to flee to India after he was questioned, but he was arrested at JFK International Airport.
He faces as many as 70 years in prison.
