The Phillies not making the playoffs this year was hard enough for fans in our area to take.
Now, it seems like every day we are watching a former Phillie come through in the playoffs for another team.
On Wednesday night, Raul Ibanez came through for the Yankees with a walk-off homer.
And on Thursday, it was another former Phillies outfielder, Jayson Werth. His game-winning home run forced a game five between the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.
The winner advances to the National League Championship Series to take on the San Francisco Giants.
Former Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence was celebrating with the Giants after the final out in their series with the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants were the first team to trail a best-of-five division series 2-0 and win the final three games on the road to take the series.
Many people are crediting Pence with turning things around after a speech he gave the Giants prior to game three.
Now, to the American League, where former Phillie Raul Ibanez's two late-game home runs this week put the New York Yankees up 2-1 in their series with the Baltimore Orioles.
For the second straight night, it took extra innings to decide a winner between the Yankees and Orioles. But, this time, Baltimore pulled out a 2-1 win in 13 innings.
That means the Orioles and Yankees will play a deciding game five in their series this afternoon in the Bronx.
