PHILADELPHIA -

Investigators with the FBI are searching for a large amount of $100 bills that haven't even been released into circulation after investigators say they were stolen from an airplane in Philadelphia.

According to the FBI, the plane arrived in Philadelphia from Dallas Thursday just before 10:30 a.m.

The FBI says a "large volume" of money was stolen from the plane.

The money wasn't reported missing until 2 p.m. by a courier service when it arrived at the Federal Reserve Building in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The FBI says the $100 bills are not scheduled to be released into circulation until next year.

The FBI is asking that merchants be on the lookout for the bills.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000.
