President Barack Obama has ordered U.S. flags lowered to half-staff on the day of former Sen. Arlen Specter's funeral.
Specter died Sunday at his home in Philadelphia after a battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday in Penn Valley, Pa.
Obama said Monday that he was ordering U.S. flags lowered at the White House and other public buildings on the day of the funeral.
Specter served 30 years in the Senate and is remembered as a pugnacious and prominent former moderate who played starring roles in Supreme Court confirmation hearings. He also is credited with the single-bullet theory in President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

Today's weather? Cloudy, muggy, and eventually, stormy. If you get a strong to severe storm, it would probably be lat afternoon and evening. Highs in the upper 70s. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.
This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
