Washington, D.C. -

Two volunteers from New Jersey who went to Washington D.C. to help with the Komen 3-Day Walk found themselves without the bicycles they use to navigate the route.

Brothers Ken and Kristian Kauker, better known as the Tu-Tu Brothers, travel to busy intersections along the route to help stop traffic and provide moral support to hundreds of walkers.

But when they arrived at the opening ceremonies Friday morning, they got of their car and realized their bikes had been stolen.

It appears someone grabbed the brothers' bikes right off the roof of their car while it was parked overnight at a nearby hotel in Hyattsville.

The hotel says security cameras caught the thieves in the act. The video has since been turned over to police.

Kristian Kauker wrote about the theft on his Facebook page and an entire community responded.

Several people reached out to area bike hops and within a matter of hours, the Tu-Tu Brothers were back in business.

Neil Conway, owner of the District Hardware and Bike Shop, stepped up to help as soon as he heard the news.

Participating in the 3-Day is important for the brothers, as they lost their mom, Julie, to breast cancer in 2010.

The two have been sporting their tu-tu's at Komen's 3-Day events since 2008.

They say they're brushing off losing their bikes because there's too much love and support to even think about it.
