Trucker Takes Destructive U-Turn In Pa. Bank Lot

SINKING SPRING, Pa. -

Hours before a grand-opening celebration at a new credit union in eastern Pennsylvania, a lost trucker crashed the party.

An 18-wheeler plowed into the brand new Bellco Federal Credit Union in Spring Township, Berks County, only a month after it opened.

The driver was headed in the wrong direction around 8 a.m. Tuesday and pulled into the credit union to make a U-turn.

The big rig's tire blew after it careened over a concrete light post, smashed into the roof over the drive thru, snapped a stop sign and uprooted a newly planted tree.

The celebration went on as planned Tuesday and the credit union is open for business. No one was hurt.

Police are still investigating. The driver's name wasn't released.
