PHILADELPHIA -
South Jersey native Matthew Quick stopped by Good Day Thursday morning to discuss the movie "The Silver Linings Playbook," based on his book of the same name.
The new movie, which stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, will be screened at the Philadelphia Film Festival Thursday night.
Quick says he gave up his job as a teacher to write the book in the basement of his in-laws' home.
"I tell people that if you have something in you to write, it's going to come out. You don't pick the writing the writing picks you," Quick said.
The movie, filmed in Philadelphia, takes you through the journey of a man played by Cooper who is trying to rebuild his life.
Quick says the story is a love song to Philadelphia and he believes Philly residents will respond well to the film.
The film includes several famous Philly city and sports locations.
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Tucker also star in the movie.
You can watch Quick's interview from Thursday morning in the video above.
