"Game-changing" plans are set to be unveiled Wednesday night in the development of the former home of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.
Developer Bart Blatstein, the president and CEO of Tower Investments Inc., says he will unveil plans to build a resort and casino in North Philadelphia.
The Inquirer building, located on the 400 block of North Broad Street, has sat vacant since the newspaper moved to a new location on Market Street.
Blatstein says the "game-changing" plans include a $1 billion complex.
"The sheer size, scope and multi-faceted amenities of this unique resort and casino complex will make it a regional tourism attraction that will ignite other area development and push the prosperity and boundaries of Center City north on Broad Street," said a statement issued Friday.
Press and guests are invited to attend a scheduled unveiling of the designs and plans at a "lavish launch party" Wednesday, during which the name and operations management partner will also be announced.
The plans will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) prior to a Nov. 15 deadline, the development group says.
