BROWNS MILLS, N.J. -

According to the Alzheimer's Association, every 68 seconds someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer's.

It's often associated with older people, but we're learning more and more that it can affect younger people too.

John DiLello of Browns Mills, New Jersey says he assumed he would develop Alzheimer's one day because the disease is in his family. He didn't think he would develop the disease in his mid-40s.

DiLello, who grew up in New Jersey, served in the Army until 1984 and went to work for the New Jersey Department of Corrections. He left after suffering a back injury.

DiLello says he also has Diabetes, but through all of his battles, none compare to what he now faces.

DiLello says its his family that helps to keep him going.

He has become an avid cyclist and rides to improve his health and to raise awareness.

Nearly 5.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease. The exact cause is unknown.
