Mother Nature has not been kind to the shoreline on 3rd at North Wildwood Beach.
There's some major shoreline erosion going on.
Leaving little ones with little room to play at north wildwood beach at 3rd Street.
The shore line has washed away forcing tourists and regulars like John White to find
other spots to enjoy their final days of surf and sun this season.
"Right now there's nowhere to put your umbrella or chairs or anything no room right now. You have to go down three more streets before you can get any beach," explained Wildwood resident John White.
Most of the sands been washed away south down to 10th and 15th street where there's plenty of sand for beach goers to relax and enjoy.
This week the city plans to reverse what Mother Nature has done.
Hauling some 10,000 cubic yards of sand back to the 3rd Street beach.
That's because a lack of shoreline could ultimately eat away at city revenues.
"The beach is one of our main economic engines," explained Wildwood City Administrator Louis Belasco. "Study after study shows that people come to North Wildwood for our beach and boardwalk so we need to maintain this."
City officials say repairing the beach isn't just about tourism dollars..
It's also a matter of public safety and protecting the flood prone streets.
"If we have a real bad storm without the sand the water and everything could come right over
this new bulkhead and be on the street. It could cause some problems," said resident Bill Weyhmiller.
Weather permitting the beach repairs will start next week and continue thru March.

Not the prettiest Friday, but we're ready for a great weekend. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. After an early high in the upper sixties, temperatures fall & winds pick up out of the chillier northwest. Right now the Memorial Day Weekend looks sunny and cool with highs in the low to mid 60s on Saturday, in the 70s Sunday & Monday. Cooler temps at the shore.
