Update: Task force to meet on Tuesday to discuss effort to track down gunman.
Ten of the 22 recent shootings have happened in Wixom and police have increased patrols at and near several schools in the community.
Residents FOX 2 spoke with on Tuesday say they're concerned and are on alert while trying to reduce the number of trips they're taking around town. No one has been hurt and no shootings have been reported since last week.
Most of the incidents involved cars near Interstate 96. Tipsters tell police the gunman appears to be a man in his 30's and authorities have released a sketch of a possible suspect.
Wixom Police say a multi-jurisdictional task force investigating the apparently random shootings in Ingham, Livingston and Oakland counties met Monday morning.
During that meeting, we're told the task force was informed that six police agencies have received 22 reports of shooting incidents. The Wixom Police Department and the Ingham County Sheriff's Office have received the most reports with ten and seven respectively. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has received two reports. The Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the Perry Police Department and the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office have all received one report.
"They heard a noise or something happened to their car in that timeline. They saw the news and two and two clicked and they called and we've sent investigators out or their communities have and verified that there's a bullet hole in the car. One case we actually recovered a spent round in a tire," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told FOX 2 on Monday.
Police say there have been no new shooting incidents reported since October 18.
The task force is also said to have investigated over half of the more than 100 tips that have been received.
Police released a forensic sketch of a possible person of interest over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the shooter may be driving a dark colored, sporty looking car. Some have said it could be an Oldsmobile Alero, Toyota Camry, Chevy Caviler or Ford Mustang.
Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
We're told the task force is made up of members from the Wixom Police Department, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office, the Walled Lake Police Department, Michigan State Police, the Michigan State University Police Department, the Michigan Intelligence Operation Center and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
