Signs supporting candidates have always been a part of the presidential campaign. On one street you'll find a sign supporting President Obama, on another for challenger Governor Mitt Romney, but this is the first time Willistown Township resident John Hally has ever had his destroyed.
"ok we may have someone who is a little violent, had to stop and rip it in half," said Hally.
This morning someone tore up his Romney-Ryan sign posted on his front lawn. Then put the pieces it his mailbox, here along Street Road.
"I think it's kind of desperate. there are other signs around, I don't know why choose my sign, "said Hally.
Hally says he sees a growing frustration out there and he's not the only one. Nearby, at the intersection of Conestoga Road and Bacton Hill Road someone vandalized this Romney-Ryan sign over the weekend. A viewer emailed Fox29 this photo. Today we found it restored, painted over, with paint still on the ground. area resident Jean Hachey who also has a Romney-Ryan sign posted on his lawn is shocked.
"Surprised me, yes it does, cause had to stop there and do this, said Hachey.
There is heavy traffic on Conestoga Road and plenty of political signs, just like in John Hally's neighborhood off Route 3 and 926.
"They are so entrenched in their idealogy they can be less than neighborly and frustrated," said Hally.
But the problem isn't just with Romney signs, Willistown Township police say an Obama sign was damaged along Sugartown road last week. while they take the incidents very seriously, police say they haven't seen a lot of vandalism this election.
