Lansdale Catholic High School Project Nixed By Archdiocese

PHILADELPHIA -
A project to build a new Lansdale Catholic Regional High School will not go on as planned, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced Tuesday.
In a statement, the Archdiocese said "financial challenges" were part of the decision not to move ahead with building the school.
The project was announced in January of 2007 and was to be built on a 68-acre area of land at the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Rickert Road. The land was purchased in October 2001 with two smaller adjacent land parcels purchased in March and June of 2008.
"The financial challenges facing the Archdiocese have ben clearly communicated in recent months," a statement from Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, read.
"As part of an effort to improve our financial situation, several real estate holdings have recently been sold or marketed for sale."
Bishop Fitzgerald went on to say he was confident that Lansdale Catholic was well poised to continue to educate students at its current location.
