Philly Elementary School Evacuated Over Smell

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Fox Chase Elementary School in Philadelphia was evacuated Wednesday morning over a smell that was first thought to be coming from a propane leak.

According to school officials, the smell was thought to be coming from a propane leak from contractors working on the roof.

It's now believed the overpowering smell was from tar that was added to the school's roof.

Students were placed at St. Cecelia's School across the street.
