Michael Bream says he woke up one day and realized 10 years had passed since his nephew, Curtis, died of Leukemia.
Curtis died when he was just four-years-old. Bream says just a short time later, Curtis' grandfather died of Leukemia and recently another uncle was diagnosed.
Bream was just in college when Curtis passed away.
Since then, he's created his own fundraiser, promising that if he met his goal, he would shave his head.
After meeting his goal, he learned about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.
Ever since, Bream has been walking, raising money and shaving his head every year ever since.
So far, he's raised $150,000 in 14-years.
Bream says he's proud to have turned his pain into purpose. He even named his first born son Benjamin Curtis in honor of his nephew.
Bream says nothing was better when he and his son shaved their heads and walked down Kelly Drive together.
This year, for the first time, Bream's sister, Curtis's mom, and the rest of the family will walk with the Bream family in Light the Night.
