ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The signs of the power and punch of Hurricane Sandy were evident along the Atlantic City Boardwalk Tuesday morning.

FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports 2,200 feet of the Boardwalk were devastated by the storm.

Huge sections could be seen washing up as far as eight blocks away towards downtown Atlantic City.

Power lines and poles were down all around and Boardwalk debris could be seen up and down the beach.

As the storm has moved out of the area, the work for cleanup crews has begun. Crews on Tuesday could be seen making their way around the Boardwalk area.

Gov. Chris Christie surveyed the Atlantic City damage by helicopter as did the U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday.

It's not clear when the city will be able to fully reopen.
