PHILADELPHIA -
A strong coastal Nor'easter is moving into the same region reeling from Superstorm Sandy, and it could bring significant coastal flooding and strong wind gusts, the National Weather Service now says.
The forecasted intensity of the storm has increased, and it will move more slowly through the region, according to the latest forecast.
"This nor'easter will have greater impact than usual because of the serious impacts from Coastal Storm Sandy," the National Weather Service said in an advisory to local emergency managers issued Monday afternoon.
Coastal Flood and High Wind Watches have now been issued for local shore communities.
Storm-force wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph are likely during this storm, and they'll be strongest near the coast, further damaging structures and trees weakened by Sandy. Moderate coastal flooding is likely, and major coastal flooding is possible, according to the NWS.
The high tides of most concern are the ones around midday Wednesday and that night. Moderate to severe beach erosion is anticipated.
The storm will bring mainly rain to the Philadelphia area and south and east, but that rain will likely be mixing with or changing to snow in northern New Jersey and east-central Pennsylvania, where accumulations of up to 4 inches are possible. Amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the area just to the north and west of the Interstate 95 corridor.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches expected, with the highest amounts closest to the coast. The rain should start falling by 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Delaware and New Jersey shore points, spreading to the north and west throughout the day.
Wind chill values will be in the 20s and 30s for much of the region during the height of the storm.
"These will be dangerous conditions for those working outdoors or still experiencing power outages due to Coastal Storm Sandy," the weather briefing adds.

An armed deli robbery is caught on camera. Two brazen gunmen held up the store owner with the man's kids right nearby. It's scary enough having armed gunmen storm your business.
