Nor'easter Left Several Inches Of Snow In Some Areas

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

It's been just over a week since Hurricane Sandy slammed the eastern seaboard, but now residents down the shore had to deal with a Nor'easter.

Brick Township, Ocean County, received about five inches of snow, but there have not been any reports of widespread flooding.

Monmouth County was also covered in snow Thursday morning.

The Nor'easter is also delaying the progress utility companies are making, though they are continuing to work in the snow and wind when it's safe to do so.

PSE&G – the utility in our area with the most power outages after Sandy – reports that crews actually managed to turn the lights back on for 70,000 customers through the storm on Wednesday. Just over 400,000 customers remained in the dark Thursday morning.

Another area that got a decent amount of snow was Cumberland County, including Vineland and Millville. But the snowy and cold conditions didn't stop a high school football game from going on. The green on the gridiron quickly turned white, and fans braved the wintry weather. FOX 29's Omari Fleming has more in this video report.

Police said there were a few fender benders overnight. Police and public works crews planned to be out Thursday morning patrolling to make sure the slush doesn't turn to ice if temperatures drop.

Along the southern coast, the storm some flooding in back bays and on the streets of barrier islands, as FOX 29's Steve Keeley reported Thursday morning.

The storm left most roads in Philadelphia just snow covered after a trace amount of snow fell.

In Bucks County, the snow fell but it didn't stick around for too long. That was a welcomed sight for people in the Doylestown area, many of whom just got their power back on after five days in the dark because of Sandy.

Local home improvement stores still got a rush of customers who wanted to be prepared just in case the storm got any worse.
