Officials in Atlantic County, New Jersey have established an animal response hotline to help residents reunite with their pets who were left behind during Hurricane Sandy.
A county spokeswoman says residents who call the hotline can leave a message with their information and the type of pet, or pets, found and can expect a call back from a volunteer coordinator.
The county says the volunteers will coordinate efforts to reunite pets with their owners.
The volunteers previously provided this type of service to victims of Hurricane Katrina, the county said.
The Animal Response Hotline can be reached at: 609-909-7829.
