ATLANTIC COUNTY, N.J. -

Several kids and a bus driver were injured when a school bus crashed into a tree Monday along the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway.

Two sisters who were on the bus tell FOX 29's Lauren Cohn they thought they were going to die as the bus felt like it was about to tip over.

Twelve kids and a bus driver were injured and taken to the hospital. The injuries were considered minor and mainly consisted of bumps and bruises, according to emergency responders.

Thirty-six students were on the bus, from Charter Tech High School for the Performing Arts, at the time of the accident.

Many parents drove to the scene after their kids called from their cell phones to tell them about the crash. Some parents say they saw their kids crying.
