DETROIT (AP) -- A woman linked to a sour investment made by a public pension fund in Detroit has turned herself in to authorities in Florida.
The Detroit News reports Teresa Kastanes was escorted off a plane Tuesday morning in Fort Lauderdale by agents from the Office of Homeland Security after flying from Managua, Nicaragua. Her lawyer Joseph Brien says she's expected to appear before a federal bankruptcy judge.
Her husband George Kastanes was arrested earlier this year following an order by a bankruptcy judge.
Judge Raymond Ray ordered their arrest in March, saying the couple repeatedly failed to appear in his court in Fort Lauderdale, where their bankruptcy case is pending.
Court documents say the Detroit police and fire pension fund lent $10 million to a company linked to them.
